To Rich on Moving Day:
We have moved many times before. Away from each other after college. Closer to each other in the Fall. Together to San Francisco. One (measly) block up the street to a different apartment in San Fran. Across the country to Charlotte. Across that city to our townhouse. Back across the country again to Phoenix. And again, today, across a few town lines to a rental house. The first place we will live with no.shared.walls.
Moving Day is never easy. Up the block, the other side of town, the other side of the country. We will be stressed. We will show our stress – and then we will laugh at our stress. Because. We’ve been here before. We’ll be here again. And the best way we’ve found to get through these days, is to laugh. Enjoy. Remember.
Throughout all these moves… Dave and his band have been there. Dancing in Boston. Our road trip to NYC. Concerts in San Fran. Blaring through the Bose in the kitchen. And as always, there is the perfect song for the perfect moment (and at times today, the not-so-perfect moments). This one makes me think of you and me, us.
So, remember when you put that chair in the wrong spot, and suggested that picture be hung there?! That’s just me on Moving Day. You’ll see that person again – you can count on it. And I can count on seeing you in all your Moving Day glory at some point again too.
You and Me.
And a different address.
…Wanna pack your bags, Something small / Take what you need and we disappear / Without a trace we’ll be gone, gone / The moon and the stars can follow the car / and then when we get to the ocean / We gonna take a boat to the end of the world / All the way to the end of the world
Oh, and when the kids are old enough / We’re gonna teach them to fly
You and me together, we could do anything, Baby / You and me together yes, yes
You and I, we’re not tied to the ground / Not falling but rising like rolling around / Eyes closed above the rooftops / Eyes closed, we’re gonna spin through the stars / Our arms wide as the sky / We gonna ride the blue all the way to the end of the world / To the end of the world
We can always look back at what we did / All these memories of you and me baby / But right now it’s you and me forever / And you know we could do better than anything that we did / You know that you and me, we could do anything…
Moving Day Steph
